Although
I have been interested in rocks and have collected them since I
was a child, I did not become involved in the lapidary arts until
I retired.

I
learned basic wirecraft skills from Martha Spies at Wildacres. In
addition, I studied advanced wirecraft under Mimi Murray and Betty
Baxter there. Many of the techniques and some of the designs in
this booklet were learned from those instructors. I learned the
ear cuff, safety pin and spider pin designs from students in classes
taught by Jean Eberle, Ada Young and Otto Glass. Also, I revised
my pronged pendant procedure based on discussions with Beverly Johnson.
